Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

Ecological restoration has gained enormous attention in the past few years, and it will continue increasing in this decade as the United Nations is fostering ecosystem restoration. Restoration interventions have been made worldwide in different ecosystems in response to land and water degradation. Among the main ecosystems receiving restoration interventions, forests play a crucial role in recovering biodiversity and ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration and providing life habitats for organisms. As a journal committed to long-term forest maintenance, Sustainable Forestry launches a Special Issue to expand our knowledge on forest restoration. We welcome basic and applied studies targeting different forest types (tropical, temperate, etc.) and using distinct restoration strategies (natural regeneration, tree planting, nucleation, etc.). We aim to get up-to-date scientific research together to advance our understanding of how ecological restoration improves (or not) ecosystem function, structure, and diversity.
