Advances of Carbon Sequestration and Carbon Emissions in Forests
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Forests are recognized as crucial carbon sinks, sequestering and storing significant amounts of carbon through processes such as photosynthesis and the formation of soil organic matter. However, forests also emit carbon through natural and human-induced disturbances, which can have significant impacts on the global carbon cycle and climate change. This special issue includes a collection of articles that showcase the latest research in carbon cycling in forests, including the potential of afforestation and reforestation to increase carbon sequestration, the impact of forest management practices on carbon emissions, and the role of forests in mitigating the effects of climate change. Additionally, the issue highlights the need for interdisciplinary research and collaboration to develop effective strategies for sustainable forest management and carbon management. Overall, this special issue provides valuable insights into the complex dynamics of the forest carbon cycle and emphasizes the importance of forest conservation and management for global carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation efforts.
Looking forward to receiving your contributions.
