Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration are closely linked pathological processes underlying many neurological disorders. Advances in magnetic resonance (MR) neuroimaging techniques, including magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), functional MRI (fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), perfusion-weighted imaging (PWI), etc., have enabled improved understanding of molecular mechanisms, early detection, disease monitoring, and treatment responses. This special issue will focus on cutting-edge MR neuroimaging research in major neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Huntington's disease, etc. Contributions delineating the role of neuroinflammation, microglial activation, blood-brain barrier dysfunction, and neural network disruptions are encouraged. Articles summarizing advances in MR imaging biomarkers, multimodal imaging, machine learning applications, and imaging-pathological correlations are also welcome. This special issue will highlight impactful MR neuroimaging research elucidating disease mechanisms and facilitating diagnostic and prognostic advancements in diverse neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative disorders.
