Facilitating work-related wellbeing and Public Safety among young people of Construction industry in Malaysia
Special Issue Information
Continuous changes in the global economy have increased work- and career-related uncertainty, leading to high labor mobility, restructuring, and transformation of the workplace. The construction industry in Malaysia, known for its demanding nature, presents significant challenges in maintaining the work-related well-being and safety of its workforce, particularly among young workers. Therefore, organizations must take notice of young employees because they are deemed productive in the digital age and can multitask. However, studies have shown that young employees get more easily overwhelmed, resulting in reduced long-term commitment to industries and a greater tendency to quit when conditions are not ideal. Therefore, finding ways to increase young workers' well-being and public safety is vital. Facilitating work-related well-being in this sector involves implementing comprehensive safety protocols, offering mental health support, and promoting work-life balance. Public safety in the construction industry can be enhanced by stricter enforcement of regulations, regular safety audits, and continuous monitoring of worksites to ensure compliance with safety standards.
