Adapting to Circular Economies and Sustainability: Innovations in Urban and Business Practices
Special Issue Information
The transition to sustainability and circularity is essential for addressing the environmental challenges of the 21st century. Investigating how cities and businesses transition to sustainable and circular economies (CE) is vital because of its potential to foster economic growth, and development as well as lessen their environmental impact.
Cities and businesses are crucial in this shift, by adopting innovative practices that minimize waste, improve resource efficiency, and promote renewable energy. However, cities and businesses face significant challenges in adopting sustainable and CE principles, including the absence of a clear definition for circular cities and the need to consider socio-political implications. Cities play a vital role in applying CE principles to achieve sustainability goals, emphasizing the importance of multi-stakeholder engagement and the implementation of various CE practices.
This Special Issue explores recent innovations and approaches to applying circular principles in urban and business environments worldwide, which promote more sustainable economies. This allows for the sharing of best practice principles from case studies across the world, contributing to our understanding of how to build more resilient and sustainable economies.
