Blue and Green Finance for Smart and Sustainable Infrastructure Development
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This special issue on Blue and Green Finance for Smart and Sustainable Infrastructure Development invites innovative research on financing mechanisms that support environmentally sustainable and technologically advanced infrastructure. The focus is on exploring how green finance (focused on land and urban ecosystems) and blue finance (focused on marine and coastal ecosystems) can drive smart infrastructure projects that align with sustainability goals. By integrating financial frameworks for sustainability with digital innovations, this issue seeks to address how infrastructure projects can be funded and managed to both reduce environmental impact and enhance economic resilience.
The scope of the issue spans topics including green and blue bonds, investment strategies for sustainable urban and marine infrastructure, financing digital transformations in smart cities, and case studies on public-private financing partnerships in ecological and digital infrastructure projects. Research on regulatory challenges, digital financing tools like blockchain, and blended finance approaches are also welcome.
The purpose is to provide a platform for scholars, policymakers, and industry leaders to advance the dialogue on funding the next generation of sustainable and digitally-enabled infrastructure. The issue aims to bridge gaps in knowledge on aligning environmental finance with smart infrastructure initiatives, contributing to both scholarly discourse and practical applications in the field.
