The Special issue, " Sustainable Disaster Management and Human Health Risk “ is in conjusction with the event, “3rd International Conference on Disaster Management and Human Health Risk (ICDMHHR 2024)” Focal theme : Sustainable Water Management and Environment, which will be organised on 07th March 2024
The issue is focused to break the vicious cycle of "Disaster, respond, recover, repeat.", for a better understanding of disaster risk, in all its dimensions.
Frequent water disruptions, pollution and floods may pose temporary inconvenience for the people but such issues, if prolonged and left unaddressed, can jeopardise not only our health but Countries economy and investments as a whole.
Degradation in water quality can cause adverse effects, a vicious cycle of sorts, to not only our environment but also our agricultural sector, to name a few, as water eutrophication poses significant threats to ubiquitous water quality.
Coping with water problems in the 21st century therefore poses many challenges to water managers. Drinking water security, food security, energy security, climate change, water-related disaster management and maintaining acceptable environmental quality in a sustainable manner are among the major challenges at present and in the foreseeable future.
The theme of World Water Day which will be observed on 22nd March 2024 is Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible
The time has come for the researchers to address the urgent need for the sustainable management of water and the environment to help tackle these long-standing issues because the detriment of water-related issues goes beyond human life.
This is also in line with the commitment stipulated under the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 for clean water and sanitation as part of the 2023 agenda to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
Recent research on water adaptation, sustainability, and climate change mitigation. The conference aims to form an interdisciplinary discussion and harbor the latest research in the field, hosting researchers, scientists, geographers, engineers, professionals, and policymakers, all stakeholders to preserve the most valuable resource of all.
