Urban Development and Land Use Policy Toward Sustainability

Special Issue Information
One of the important issues concerning urban policies is the comprehensive and targeted planning regarding the appropriate allocation of urban land to the required uses based on the required standards and per capita. Considering the growth of urbanization and increasing consumerism, special attention should be paid to the growth of population and resources in line with sustainable development and its goals in urban planning. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development can be a suitable solution to persuade urban planning and its development toward sustainability.
In addition, it is important that this planning not only provides the desired level of uses to the required per capita standard but also takes into account social sustainability and ensure equitable spatial development.
This Special Issue welcomes theoretical and empirical contributions that aim at providing deeper insights into the urban development and land use policy that address the issue of sustainability of cities and society based on the patterns of sustainable development goals (SDGs). Empirical analyses of the policies focused on sustainable land use policy are especially welcome. The geographical scope of the Research Topic is global, and contributions regarding case studies from both developed and developing countries will be equally relevant and welcome.
Submissions can include, but are not limited to, the following research areas:
• Land use policies for a sustainable society and equitable spatial development;
• land use strategies for mitigation obstacles of urban sustainable development;
• How land use policies provide sustainable development goals (SDGs);
• The effects of sustainable development goals (SDGs) on land use policies;
• How land use policies can improve well-being and quality of life according to sustainable development goals (SDGs).
