Special Issue Information

The increasing demand for a clean and safe environment has made the removal of environmental pollutants a critical and urgent issue. In this regard, the development of waste biomass-based adsorbents has emerged as a promising solution. This provides a double benefit, eliminating the generation of waste biomass in the environment and utilization of new materials for purification. Waste biomass is an abundant, low-cost, and renewable resource that can be transformed into efficient adsorbents capable of removing various pollutants, including heavy metals, dyes, and organic compounds, from water and air. This special issue of the journal aims to bring together the latest research and advancements in the field of waste biomass-based adsorbent development, with a focus on their applications for environmental pollution control.

The goal of this special issue is to provide a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art in the field and to encourage further research and development in this area. Papers that address the following topics are especially welcome:

Synthesis and characterization of waste biomass-based adsorbents

Mechanisms of pollutant removal by waste biomass-based adsorbents

Optimization of adsorption conditions for maximum pollutant removal efficiency

Comparison of waste biomass-based adsorbents with traditional adsorbents

Scale-up and commercialization of waste biomass-based adsorbent production

Field-scale applications of waste biomass-based adsorbents for environmental pollution control
