Dear Colleagues,

Sustainability of natural resources is vital in our current environment. Given this fact, it is necessary a deepening of research in this area by the academy. The sustainability of natural areas cannot be separated from other areas with which it must coexist, such as the sustainability of society and the economic sustainability of these areas. In this sense, it is necessary to go deeper, in an integrated manner, into the different aspects of sustainability required to observe this sustainability in an integrated manner.

The sustainability of natural resources is often linked to the development of aspects such as the economic development of the affected areas, with key aspects such as income growth, the level of employment or the welfare of the population, or the appropriate management of these areas. In this sense, variables such as economic or industrial development, which conditions natural sustainability through elements such as pollution, overexploitation of natural resources, or their degradation, are fundamental variables to be taken into account if we observe the sustainability of these resources. To this we should add the development of tourism in natural areas, with important variables such as carrying capacity; or even the development of new technologies that can be conceived as limiting aspects of natural resources, or, on the contrary, as tools that facilitate the improvement of such sustainability.

A broad vision also observes the socio-cultural development of the areas, and the governmental policies to facilitate a balanced and sustainable growth with the environment, and its protection. In addition, social consistency, ecology, and the conservation of cultural and heritage spaces are also fundamental aspects to be observed, highlighting here the intrinsic knowledge of the residents of their natural spaces.

In this Section collection about sustainable resource management, we are interested in looking at all these aspects, focusing on the areas of sustainability, and in particular the management of resources in a sustainable way. The section collection addresses very diverse areas, from economics, management, marketing, ecology, biology, engineering, the use of new technologies, geography, ecology, ethics, sociology, private or public resource management, or cultural management. Research and reviews in all these areas of study, as well as diverse experiences, or methodologies for their application and study are welcome.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
