Dear Colleagues,

The last decades have been characterized by a considerable growth in energy demand, with its environmental impacts being the targets of general concern, forcing policy makers to rethink new strategies for a more environmentally friendly global energy transition. In this context, renewable energy sources (RES) – wind, biomass, hydro, solar, geothermal - play a key role. To achieve zero fossil fuel use in the near future, renewable energy production will need to be increased considerably if energy demand is held constant.

This Special Issue aims to gather high-quality papers emphasizing the renewables contribution to environmental protection. Submitted contributions will go through a peer-review process performed by independent reviewers. Original case studies and review papers are invited for publication in this Special Issue.

Possible topics include but are not limited to:

• Renewable energy sources and their economic and environmental impacts

• Renewable energy sources and their energy systems integration

• Renewable energy sources and their environmental and social impacts

• Renewable energy policy and regulatory frameworks

Submission Guidelines

All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:

Submissions must meet the journal’s formatting guidelines.
