Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The ongoing deforestation and illegal logging in the tropics and subtropics both in natural and planted forests leads to forest depletion and forest degradation. Due to lack of knowledge on biology, ecology and management of native tree species in the tropics and subtropics resulted in below optimum growth. Hence the issues calls for introduction of sustainable forest management options to assure the stewardship and use of forests and forest lands in a way, and at a rate, that maintains their biodiversity, productivity, regeneration capacity, vitality and their potential to fulfill, now and in the future, relevant ecological, economic and social functions, at local, national, and global levels, and that does not cause damage to other ecosystems. Sustainable forest management options provide a harvestable wood to generate income from protected forest sustainably. This was achieved through implementation of different silvicultural management options to improve productivity and yield of the natural and planted forest. Therefore, managing the existing forest through the integration of ecological, social and economic value of the forest is - an important expansion from goals through to ecosystem services. Thus, the proposed Special Issue aims to expand and promote the innovative sustainable forest management options to increase productivity and yield of the forest to improve livelihood of the forest dependent community that may bring well-being to experiencers. Practical solutions are needed to foster and improve mental well-being with landscape design at minimal cost.
