Prof. Erkan Alpsoy is professor in the Department of Dermatology and Venereology, Akdeniz University School of Medicine, Antalya-Turkey. He graduated from Akdeniz University School of Medicine Antalya, Turkey in 1988. After a two-year-compulsory servis, he completed dermatology and venereology residency program in the same institution in 1993. He became Assistant Clinical Professor of the same institution in 1994. In 1997, he was appointed associate professor, and in 2003 full professor. Prof. Alpsoy’s research interests include Behçet’s disease and other vasculitis, psoriasis, autoimmune bullous diseases, melanoma, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis. He studied on “the behaviour of monocytes-macrophages under the effect of serum of patients with Behçet’s disease” in a research project in Immunodermatology Section of The Free University of Berlin, Department of Dermatology for the duration of 6 months in 1999. Prof. Alpsoy has been honored with Promoting Health Science Award of Akdeniz University in 2002. He has also received numerous awards for his scientific works in different international and national congresses.
