Yasser is a Senior Lecturer in Thermofluids in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering. He received his BSc (2003) from Shiraz University, MSc (2006) and PhD (2012) in Mechanical Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University. Upon graduation until January 2013, he worked as a research engineer in an oil/gas industry . He was a postdoctoral research associate at Delft University of Technology (Jan 2013-Sep 2013) working on turbulent reacting flows. In between Sep 2013-Sep 2016, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate at Cambridge University on aeroacoustics of gas turbines. Before joining the University of Manchester in January 2021, he was a Lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast.

Yasser has research interest in turbulent flow and heat transfer, energy storage, compressors for hydrogen/air storage, aeroacoustics and hydrogen combustion. He has been a principal investigator or co-investigator for a number of research projects, funded by EPSRC, Royal Society, Invest Northern Ireland and industry. Yasser is the Leader of the “Turbulent Heat Transfer’’ Special Interest Group in the UK Fluid Network, and an Associate Editor for Special Topics & Reviews in Porous Media: An International Journal. He is author on 50+ high quality journal publications, 1 book, 4 book chapters and 40+ conference papers.
