Dr. Tao Liu is an associate professor of School of Transportation and Logistics, Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU). He received has PhD in Transportation Engineering from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He once worked as a Research Fellow at Tumcreate, an electromobility research programme undertaken by Germany’s Technische Universität München (TUM) and Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU), funded by the National Research Foundation of Singapore. Dr. Liu’s research focused on the analysis, modeling and optimization of transportation systems, especially public transportation systems, with an emphasis on the planning, design and management of new and innovative autonomous, connected, electric, shared, smart on-demand mobility systems. He has served as a Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI of more than 10 research projects. He has authored or co-authored over 40 articles in peer reviewed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. Dr. Tao Liu was awarded the 2017 Vice-Chancellor's Prize for Best Doctoral Thesis of the University of Auckland. He was also a winner of the 2016 ARRB Group & Roads Australia Student Transport Research Prize.
