Prof. Andres Cantarero
University of Valencia, Spain
I finished my Bachelor studies in 1979 and after the military service I did my Master and Ph. D. in the University of Valencia, at this time already with a position of Assistant Professor. From 1987-1989 I did a postdoctoral stay in Stuttgart, at the Max Planck Institute, where I started to work on Raman in 13-15 semiconductors under high magnetic fields under the supervision of Prof. Manuel Cardona. I reconciled my experiments with the development of phenomenological models. During my postdoc I got a permanent position at the University of Valencia. In 2007, I competed for my habilitation and became full professor. During all these years I have published around 400 papers and several book chapters, I have attended a similar number of Conferences (with 100-150 contributed talks, more than 50 invited talks- I do not follow the track-, and three plenary talks), participated in national and international external commissions for research, and I am referee of many international journals, several European and international Agencies. I was teaching in many areas, starting with Electricity and Magnetism, Solid State Physics, Electrodynamics, and many others. I was the director of the Materials Science Institute three years. I have supervised 18 PhD. students and 8 postdocs. Nowadays, I am supervising 3 Ph. D. students.
