Dr. Rakesh Kumar has received his Ph.D. in Operations Research(Queuing Theory) from the Department of Statistics and Operational Research, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra in the year 2006. He has been awarded University Medal by Kurukshetra University for standing first-class-first in M.Sc. Statistics. He has introduced the concepts like queues with retention of reneging customers, and queues with reverse balking. He has published extensively in the reputed journals like Bulletin of the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society, Communications in Statistics-Theory and Methods, Journal of Industrial and Production Engineering, Opsearch, Yugoslav Journal of Operations Research, International Journal of Operational Research and many more. He is the reviewer of Mathematical Reviews. He is on the Editorial Board of journals American Journal of Operational Research, and Modern Management Forum. He has guided two Ph.D. theses, and currently guiding two more scholars. He is the referee of many journals published by Springer, and Elsevier publishers. Currently, he is running an UGC sponsored Major Research Project (2015-18) in the area of queuing theory. He has presented many papers in national/international conferences in India as well as in abroad. He is life member of Operational Research Society of India, International Indian Statistical Association, Indian Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Indian Society of Probability and Statistics, and Indian Statistical Institute. He has been the Organizing Secretary of two national conferences in SMVDU, Katra.
