Dr. Vincenzo Benagiano is the Associate Professor of Human Anatomy at the Medical School of the University of Bari.

 

He carried out his scientific activity at the Section of Human Anatom ‘Rodolfo Amprino’ of the Dept. Of Basic Medical Sciences, Neuroscience and Sensory Organs of the University of Bari.

 

His main research interests include:

 

1. development and distribution of GABAergic, glutamatergic and peptidergic neuronal and glial populations in the brainstem, cerebellum and cerebral cortex;.

2. dynamic morphology of the GABAergic neuronal systems in the cerebellar cortex; 3. nervous regulation of cerebral blood flow and metabolism;

4. development, structure and functioning of the blood-brain barrier;

5 effects of environmental and toxic substances on the development, cytoarchitecture and chemoarchitecture of the cerebellum system;

6. anatomo-clinical study of the human somatic motor system.
