The “Conflict of Interest” policy is refined!

For the sake of academic fairness, all authors are required to declare all activities that have the potential to be deemed as a source of competing interest in relations to their submitted manuscript. Examples of such activities could include personal or work-related relationships, events, etc. Authors who have nothing to declare are encouraged to add "The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest" in this section. A declaration of interests for all authors should be received before an article can be reviewed and accepted for the publication. As the authors, editors or reviewers, they also are required to declare the conflict of interest in academy.

Research News: New Vis-NIR Spectroscopy Software Provides Superior User Experience

Metrohm is pleased to launch Vision Air 2.0, a universal software solution for Vis-NIR spectroscopy. Vision Air caters to the needs of routine users and laboratory managers alike with specific interfaces, simplifying routine measurement, method development, and both data and instrument management. Analyses with Vision Air are completely traceable and meet the requirements of the FDA 21 CFR part 11 for the pharmaceutical industry.

Vision Air is easy to command. Two clicks is all that is needed for routine users to perform a precise measurement. Results are displayed clearly on the screen, with both text and colours to indicate pass, fail, or warnings. Vision Air offers superior flexibility supporting software solutions for method development from different vendors. Vision Air offers pre-calibrations for many parameters meaning Vis-NIR spectrometers running on Vision Air are ready for use within minutes.

Research News: New Method to Analyse Haloacetic Acids, Bromate and Dalapon is 50% Faster than Current USEPA Method

Wu et. al. present a new method to analyse nine haloacetic acids (HAAs), bromate, and dalapon plus four potentially more toxic iodinated HAAs in natural waters by coupling ion chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (IC-MS/MS). The new method is 50% faster than the current USEPA method 557 including more compounds and achieving sub-µg/L level detection limits for all 15 target analytes.

HAAs are one of the most commonly detected disinfection by-products in US water utilities. Some of them are regulated by the USEPA and have been classified as potentially carcinogenic. HAAs have traditionally been analysed by GC methods, which require derivatisation and sample extraction, which are laborious, time-consuming, and can have a negative effect on reproducibility.

Research News: New Triple Quadrupole ICP-MS Combines Power and Simplicity

Laboratories working with challenging matrices can now benefit from a new triple quadrupole inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) that is designed to combine power and simplicity in a single instrument.

The new Thermo Scientific iCAP TQ ICP-MS systemmade its debut at Pittcon 2017 at McCormick Place, Chicago. The easy-to-use system, developed to support ultralow detection limits, offers advanced interference removal capabilities designed to overcome interferences common in challenging matrices. It is also designed to provide reliable and reproducible data for a range of applications.

“There’s a growing need to push the boundaries of detection, especially in metallurgy, clinical research, pharmaceutical compliance, environmental science, food safety and geoscience,” said Adrian Holley, marketing director, trace elemental analysis, Thermo Fisher. “Our customers want the detection limits and accuracy of triple quadrupole technology with the ease of a single quad, and the iCAP TQ ICP-MS delivers that combination of power and simplicity.”
